Jim Y. Wong
Senior Counsel
Jim Y. Wong is proficient in both writing and speaking Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). He graduated from UCLA in 1978 (with Honors), subsequently received his Juris Doctorate in 1983 from the University of Kansas. He has been an attorney-at-law since September 1983.
Jim’s wide range of legal experiences has provided him the skill and insight necessary for problem-solving and proactive planning for his individual and business clients. His goal is always to serve his clients by promptly identifying pertinent legal issues and implementing appropriate strategies that lead to cost-effective resolutions.
Jim focuses on two primary practice areas: real estate law and corporate/business law. He has represented sellers, buyers, investors, developers, and lending institutions in a variety of business transactions, including mixed-and-single use developments, residential and office condominium projects, master-planned and common interest communities, office, industrial and warehouse complexes, retail centers, golf courses, apartments, commercial leasing, financing (loan acquisitions and restructuring, creditors’ rights and remedies, foreclosures and related commercial litigation), construction, formation of entities in real estate investments.
His business law practice encompasses general business transactions, asset and stock sales and purchases, entities formation, corporate finance, and general regulatory and compliance (including visa applications and immigration compliance) in diverse industries of technology, retail, manufacturing, and financial services located in Arizona and in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.
With a deep understanding and appreciation of the Asian cultures, Jim’s legal expertise in the areas of his practice has enabled him to establish unique relationships with business leaders in the United States and the Far East and to assist them with identifying opportunities and promoting expansion of their markets on both sides of the Pacific.
